Chances are that most visitors to Kiev will stumble upon Shato whether they mean to or not, thanks to its sterling location on Khreschatyk street, right by Independence Square. The huge 20ft beer emblem above the door is a certainly a sight for sore legs, and tired tourists won't be disappointed with what they find on the inside of the threshold either. Upstairs, in a modern interior of wooden tables, exposed brick walls and plasma TVs, you can order lunchtime faves such as steaks, pastas and salads, or opt for more adventurous choices such as catfish shashlik, borsch and about a hundred different types of sausage. And if it's liquid refreshment you're after then prop up the bar downstairs and order something from the microbrewery. WiFi, a no smoking room and friendly service help make Shato a stress-free refuelling point. |
