Ukrainian food may not have made the impact on global eating habits that the likes of French, Italian and Chinese cuisine have, but that's not to say it hasn't got anything to offer the self-gratifying gourmand. If you fancy experimenting with some of the local fare then you won't find a better place to do so than this highly-rated restaurant, Pervak. Seven distinct dining areas, each individually decorated with features ranging from roaring fireplaces and floral balconies to stone sculptures and coats of arms, evoke a ceremonious atmosphere for sampling the likes of smoked sturgeon, marinated mushrooms and boiled tongue. You'll leave converted!

came across this place on our first night in Kiev, being pretty clueless about the traditional fayre the waitress was very helpful with recommending us, now I'm definitely converted!

was there in Feb 09 really nice place good food excellent service very polite and with us speaking no Ukrainian was great all in all 1/3 of the price of a trendy US diner just round the corner. Will be going back when next in Kiev

Pervak must be the best restaurant in Kiev - and probably Ukraine. Great dishes, smiley waitresses (rare in Kiev!) and fantastic building. look it up
