Georgians are famous for their openness, hospitality and their great food so if you're not heading to Georgia anytime soon why not seize the chance to sample some Caucasian cuisine at this Kyivan restaurant instead. Marinated lamb shashliks, roast suckling pigs, chicken breast in cherry-plum sauce, as well as national treats like 'samotkhe' (prunes stuffed with walnuts, honey, and lemon juice) and Georgian coffee reliably win over new fans. Food aside, the restaurant is decorated with plenty of traditional rustic furnishings, and the odd amusing touch. The incongruous depiction of a helicopter carrying a cow is in fact an allusion to Mimino's namesake, a moustachioed Georgian pilot who is the lead character in a popular Soviet film - and an unlikely national hero.
