European Film Festival If forecasts are right and Eastern Europe’s in for a soaking this month, then the European Film Festival in Kiev will be the perfect antidote to those sodden skies. The festival’s a bit of a retrospective as some of the movies were made up to five years ago, but they have been chosen as they are perennial favourites in their home countries. Among the flick list is the Hungarian ‘Hukkle’ about a man who suffers from hiccups and becomes embroiled in a gruesome murder and the Czech Republic’s ‘Wrong Side Up’ tracking the descent into madness of a truck driver who goes psycho after his girlfriend abandons him.
A tip off; if you’re lucky enough to have a Ukrainian or Russian friend, then drag them along as all films are in their original language with Russian or Ukrainian subtitles.
