Hitler Museum to Open in Ukraine

The remains of Hitler’s Eastern Front military headquarters, located approximately 250km south-west of Kiev in the forests of central Ukraine, are being transformed into a museum.

The Wehrwolf headquarters, which was only visited by the fascist ruler three times, was destroyed by the Nazis when they abandoned the area though it did once include several wooden cottages, barracks, as well as bunkers. At its peak it was home to a teahouse, barber shop, theatre, and swimming pool. Roughly six thousand Soviet war prisoners died at the site when it was used in 1942 and 1943.

The museum hopes to open on 9 May 2011, the anniversary of Victory Day over Fascism.
