Victor Yushchenko himself was present at the opening of the new exhibition "Ukraine Remembers! Holodomor 1932-1933 ñ Genocide of the Ukrainian nation."

Outside of Ukraine 'Holomodor', the name given to the famine of 1932 and 1933 is all but unknown. Engineered by Stalin and covered up by the Soviets, for decades this heinous genocide was talked about only in hushed whispers but now Ukrainian officials are hoping to raise public understanding of the tragedy.

This new exhibition will throw some much needed light on Stalin's enforced famine which is thought to have claimed some 8 million lives. The exhibition takes place at the Ukrainian House on Khreschatyk street.
