Familiar Western brands like Adidas, Timberland, Esprit, Pierre Cardin and Hallmark have swept into the East like a fast-moving forest fire. After you've bought a new Swatch watch and bolstered your supply of extra-large Tommy Hilfiger pants, refuel at Nescafe, McDonalds or Baskin Robbins. Kiev didn't take long to sell its Soviet soul! Some vintage cars and an art gallery on the ground floor provide excellent time-wasting opportunities if the missus is shoe-shopping.
